HealthData@PT ENG

A fundamental step towards the European Health Data Space, promoting the secondary use of health data to benefit citizen´s health care, scientific and medical advances, and the public health.

The HealthData@PT initiative started in November 2023 with the goal of establishing the technological infrastructure and the legal and organizational entity – the Health Data Access Body (HDAB) – necessary to advance the use of health data for research, medical innovation, and health regulation purposes (secondary use) in Portugal.

This project is aligned with the European strategy for the development of the European Health Data Space (EHDS), which aims to create the European HealthData@EU infrastructure to enable cross-border sharing of health data among the different Member States of the European Union. By aligning with European and national strategies, the HealthData@PT initiative will play a crucial role in the digital transformation of healthcare in Portugal and Europe, with strong potential to advance scientific and medical research, public health initiatives, and the development of more informed and effective health policies.

The HealthData@PT action is co-funded by the European Union, EU4Health Program 2021-2027 under Grant Agreement Nr 101128332.
